You all are going to LOVE LOVE this tutorial!!! I do! I was stalking all my favorite blogs a while ago and came across this VIDEO. I was totally intrigued and had to try it out right away!
So I went to the dollar store and found elastic headbands. You know, those sport head bands? They were three for a dollar. I didn’t care about the color since they don’t go out of the house. I tried it on Z. I had to redo a couple spots but got it all twisted up. I used bobby pins to hold the hair in place. The next morning I was a little disappointed. It didn’t look like I wanted it too. SO I just tried again and again and again. Z and I love how her hair comes out each time and each time it is a little different according to how tight or loose I wrap her hair or how thick the chunks are!
Today I started with a Single Side Knot. This way the hair is out of the face a little. I have done it without the knot and it is way cute, Z just like the knot. It is easier to do the knot before! I spray Z’s hair with spray gel before wrapping.
Take that headband and place it over the top of the head, just like the video.
Following the steps in the video, wrap hair around the headband. Thicker chunks of hair wrapped loosely mean fatter, looser curls. Thin chunks of hair wrapped tight mean tighter curls!
One hint that I found helpful, start on one side and wrap hair around, have your little sweetie hold this piece or it unravels a little, then go wrap the other side. Finally wrap the middle part. It may overlap and that is okay! I use bobby pins to hold the ends in!
Unwrapping the hair the next morning can be a little tricky and requires patience!
I don’t brush the curls out like the video says. I used gel to smooth any frizz. I use my fingers to separate big curls. AND hairspray to make those cute curls stay!
You can see a slight line from the head band at the top of Z’s forehead, don’t worry it goes away in about an hour!
The best advice I can give you with this do is practice, practice, practice! I tried it on K’s hair and it was really cute! The curls were a little too tight for my liking but loosened within the hour. Next time I will make sure to allow for that hour so the curls can loosen before we go! Tonight we are doing it to B’s super thick hair! Then I will try mine! I will keep you updated on how it goes!! Let me know your expereince with this do! And as always if you have any questions, ASK! Just send me an e-mail or leave me a comment.
